Helen Mirren Biography

Dame Helen Mirren was an English actress born on 26 July, 1945 in Queen Charlotte’s Hospital, Chiswick, and London. Vasiliy Petrovich Mironov was her father and kitty was her mother. Her father was of Russian origin and mother was English. She was the second child among three siblings. Peter Basil was her younger brother and Katherine was her older sister.

In her early childhood, she studied in St Bernard’s High School for Girls in Southend-on-sea. Later she attended New College of Speech and Drama in London. When she was 18 years old, she got a chance in the National Youth Theatre auditions.

Mirren started her acting career at the age of eighteen and worked in Theatre, films, television and national theatre. She won many awards in her acting career like Academy Award for Best Actress. She won four SAG awards and four BAFTA Awards, four Emmy awards, three Golden Globe Awards and two Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Awards.

She did a lot of films which include, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Age of Consent, O Lucky Man!, Hamlet, The Quiz Kid, Hussy, The Long Good Friday, Cal, Heavenly Pursuits, White Nights, The Mosquito Coast, The Queen Show, Greenfingers, No Such Thing, Happy Birthday, The Clearing, State of Play, The Last Station, Love Ranch, The Debt, The Tempest, Red and Arthur.

On 31st December, 1997, she married with Taylor Hackford an American director. From this marriage, she gave birth to her first child but Taylor Hackford had two children from his previous marriages. This was his third child.
